The City of Emeryville has long been an important part of the San Francisco Bay Area's creative and entrepreneurial landscape. Over the past several decades—and especially during the last thirty years—the city has evolved into a vibrant center for art, film, technology, music, and innovation.
Home to world-renowned creative organizations such as Pixar, along with numerous artists, studios, filmmakers, and music producers, Emeryville has played an important role in shaping and inspiring creative work enjoyed throughout the world.
The vision for the Emeryville Film Festival was first established in 2013, when EmeryvilleFilmFestival.com was registered and a long-term concept was developed to create a festival dedicated to celebrating Emeryville's unique role in film, arts, music, and creative innovation.
Over the years, Emeryville's cultural influence has continued to grow, reinforcing the need for a dedicated platform that showcases the city's creative community and serves the broader East Bay region. Recent enthusiasm for film-related events and creative programming in Emeryville has further demonstrated the strong interest that exists within the community for film, storytelling, and the arts. The positive response from residents, artists, filmmakers, and local organizations confirms what we envisioned when the Emeryville Film Festival concept was first developed more than a decade ago—that Emeryville is uniquely positioned to support a thriving and meaningful film culture.
As we continue developing the next phase of the Emeryville Film Festival, we are exploring opportunities that extend beyond a traditional annual event and support film, media, music, education, and creative collaboration throughout the year. Our goal is to create a broader platform that strengthens Emeryville's position as one of the Bay Area's leading centers for creativity and artistic expression.
In addition to film exhibition, the organization is exploring initiatives supporting original film music, soundtrack development, creative collaboration, and educational opportunities for emerging artists and filmmakers.
